This morning, Fred woke to a most unusual sunrise - and it started a train of thought which he shares here.  That's partly because he learned this morning that fifty years ago, January 24th was also a Sunday....

MILLIONAIRE'S SHORTBREAD RECIPE
 
Tomorrow is the 262nd birthday of Scottish poet, Robert Burns.  Through some coincidental events (Scottish nanny and Scottish friends), our family started celebrating Burns' Night suppers in the early '90s.  This year's event was virtual, shared with friends far away.  But one of the treats about learning about Scottish history and culinary traditions has been our introduction to Millionaire's Shortbread, a traditional Scottish shortbread topped with caramel, and then chocolate.  It's THE perfect pairing with our Cream Sherry, although Fred reports that it is certainly good with a Scottish single malt whiskey as well!

Also try it with our new bourbon-barrel-aged Old Oak Gold pictured below with our new Old Oak Ruby, both just introduced last month.

Here's the recipe - while this dessert has three layers - but isn't difficult to make.
