FROM BUD TO BOTTLE: CHANCELLOR

The 2023 harvest has been abundant, and almost all the grapes should be off the vines in a few more weeks, except for some Vidal and Chambourcin which we'll save for the ice wine harvest in the depths of winter.

We finished picking our Chancellor grapes this week - over 100 tons of them!  These grapes, the favorite of our Founder, Frederick S. Johnson, are primarily made into Founders' Red; a dry, lightly-oaked, and fruit-forward blend of 90% Chancellor and 10% Pinot Noir. These grapes will also be used in sweeter wines like Chautauqua Rouge, Chautauqua Blush, House Red, and Proprietor’s Red. How many have you tried? Place an order or stop into the Tasting Room today!
