Dear //FirstName//,
About a dozen years ago, I was in NYC with a friend and visited the Neue Galerie NYC, located on the upper East Side. The museum, housed in a 19th century historic building, features early twentieth century German and Austrian art and Café Sabarsky, an elegant Austrian restaurant. For dessert, I had some toasted hazelnuts which were lightly coated with chocolate and confectioner's sugar. I quickly realized that they were the perfect pairing for Vidal Blanc Ice Wine (and after all, Germany and Austria are home to the world's first ice wines). After looking for a source for this dessert without success, I realized that we'd just have to make them ourselves! Every year, we now order over a hundred pounds of estate-grown hazelnuts from family-owned Freddy Guys Farm in Oregon, to make these confectionary delights. Even Fred loves them, and he's not a sweet-food guy - or so he says, until he meets an apple pie!
This month's batch of Austrian Chocolate Hazelnuts will be available for sale in the winery and online.
Perfect Pairings for Austrian Chocolate Hazelnuts: Vidal Blanc Ice Wine.
Okay, they are also nice with our Chambourcin Ice Wine and anything else you'd like to drink......!
